On Sunday, May 17, 2009,
First Congregational Church of Oshkosh
approved the following
Open and Affirming Statement.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Recognizing that we are each different, yet created in the likeness of our Lord God, we, the members of First Congregational Church in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, not only welcome, but embrace, all persons. In doing so, we strive to provide a safe, accepting and welcoming church home for persons of every race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status and family structure.

We recognize that much discrimination still exists, but we also acknowledge that discrimination of any kind is incompatible with Christ's example and gospel of unconditional love. With God's help we will deny and challenge social injustices when we see them.

We therefore declare ourselves to be an Open and Affirming Congregation, welcoming our lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender brothers and sisters into the full fellowship, leadership, worship and ministry of our congregation, and to share the blessings and joys of our congregation's life, mission and religious journey with Christ.
